Fundamentals of 🔥Flow
Flow isn't a trick list. It's a language, and every prop speaks it. This workshop builds the foundation under everything you'll ever do with a staff, poi, hoop, fans, saber, or whatever's in your hands.
What we cover
- Planes and the grid — clean lines, the wall / wheel / floor system, and the exercises that lock them into your body
- Speed and pace — when to push, when to breathe, and how tempo changes what a move says
- Space and levels — high, mid, low; how to own the floor around you
- Static and stalls — slow all the way down to stopped. Hard, messes with your brain, unlocks a lot
- Audience interaction — eye contact, energy, and how to pull a crowd in without dropping your flow
- Bringing your flow — whether you're alone in the backyard or in front of a crowd, how to make the moves yours
The six lessons
Train tracks and planes. Track one is in front of you, track two is behind. You turn, the tracks turn with you. Tracks are mobile; planes are a wall. Brothers and cousins.
Speed. Don't know what to do? Slow down. Always the answer. Slow reads as more intricate and takes more skill than fast. Play the range — crawl to full speed and back.
Levels. Get low. Get funky. Roll on the ground. Spin high above your head. Big transitions, floor to standing. Ground floor to a hundred floors up.
Space. Planes are where you spin your prop. Space is where you move your feet. Take up all the room you've got. Spin and step; spin a circle and travel with it.
Stalls. Wheel, stop, wheel back. Full circle to train tracks. The class exercise that messes with your brain.
Audience. Eye contact. Mirroring. Change your facing on purpose. All four corners of the space.
Who it's for
Beginners leave with a clear map. Experienced spinners leave with holes filled they didn't know they had. Fundamentals are the boring reps nobody wants to drill, so we make them fun.
Poi are provided as the teaching prop because the foundations on poi apply to every prop. Bring whatever you spin.

Questions people ask
I've never held a prop. Is this for me?
Yes. That's exactly who it's built for. You'll leave with the map and three things you can drill alone.
I've been spinning for years. Will I get anything?
The stalls exercise alone is worth the hour. Experienced spinners usually find two or three fundamentals they skipped.
What should I bring?
Whatever you spin. Poi are provided. Water. Shoes you can move in.
Can this run at my festival or studio?
